December 1, 1969 marked the date of the first draft lottery held since 1942.   A large glass container held 366 blue plastic balls containing every possible birth date and affecting men between 18 and 26 years old.

2009-08-02 16:41 Andre' Ditimus After high school I was drafted into the Army infantry. My boot camp was in Monterey, Fort Ord, Colorado, Fort Carson.

My tour of duty was in Viet Nam, as a machine gunner with 1st Air Calvary Division,1/7 Calvary
regiment.  My duty was to fly into the jungles of Cambodia.

2009-08-23 23:34 Jim Sczepaniak After high school, joined the Navy in 1970, boot camp in San Diego. Electronics technician school in Dam Neck Virginia, went into submarine duty. Served on the USS John Adams out of Hawaii for 6 patrols and the the USS Robert E Lee for 3 patrols. Honorable discharge in 1980. Navy
